Ask three research questions, then trace every case and section the AI offers to the primary source. Expect at least one invention.
60 min* · Module 2AI writes fluent law. Some of it does not exist.
Models draft a notice or summarise a judgment in seconds, and they can invent a case name, a citation or a ratio with complete confidence. This course teaches a method: what to give AI, what never to paste in, and how to verify output before it reaches a client or a court.
- Research leadsIssues, statutes and candidate cases to read, not to cite unread.
- First draftsNotices, replies, opinions and agreements from your facts.
- Extraction at scaleClauses, dates and obligations across hundreds of documents.
- SummariesChronologies, judgment notes and bundle indexes.
- Whether a case existsEvery citation read in the primary source before it is relied on.
- What leaves the chamberPrivileged and client-identifiable material stays out of public tools.
- What is signed and filedPleadings, opinions and notices carry the advocate's name, not the model's.
- Strategy and adviceProfessional judgement is not delegated.
In July 2026 the Supreme Court called citing AI-generated precedents without verification misconduct by an advocate.
Client papers pasted into a free chatbot leave the chamber. The BCI Rules and the BSA still apply.
BNS, BNSS and BSA replaced the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act from 1 July 2024. Models still quote the old numbers.
Pressure pushes juniors to shortcuts. A checked method is faster than an unchecked draft.
Ten kinds of legal work, each with its own limits.
Pick an area to see what AI does well, where it fails, and the check you keep.
Ten modules, 20 hours*. Indexed like a paper-book.
Open any entry for topics, the lab and the limits. Hours are indicative and confirmed per batch.
Six labs on synthetic case files. No client papers, ever.
Every judgment, contract and deed in the labs is invented for training. Tools: ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot in Word, Gemini, Claude, Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) and Perplexity, plus Indian legal research platforms with AI features*, described generically.
Draft a recovery notice and a reply from a synthetic file, then mark every statement the advocate must confirm.
60 min* · Module 3Extract indemnity, liability, termination and data clauses from a 40-page MSA and redline against a sample playbook.
75 min* · Module 4Sort 64 synthetic documents, flag change-of-control and consent clauses, and list what is missing.
75 min* · Module 5Turn a synthetic case bundle into a list of dates, a judgment summary and a bundle index, each tied to page numbers.
60 min* · Module 6Translate a Marathi or Hindi deed extract with AI, then find the terms a person must correct before it is used.
45 min* · Module 7What has changed since your last research memo.
The course keeps to the official record. Items below were checked against Supreme Court, India Code, Ministry and PIB sources in October 2026.
- 2023e-Courts Phase III
Outlay of ₹7,210 crore, with funds earmarked for future technology including AI. Delivered through the e-Committee of the Supreme Court and the Department of Justice.
- 1 Jul 2024BNS, BNSS and BSA in force
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam replaced the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act. Module 2 includes an old-to-new section mapping drill.
- Nov 2025DPDP Rules notified
The Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 came with an 18-month phased compliance timeline. Law firms hold client and employee personal data.
- Feb 2026SUVAS and SUPACE
Per a PIB note, SUVAS translates Supreme Court judgments into 18 Indian languages for the e-SCR portal, with human review; SUPACE remains experimental and is not in regular judicial use.
- Jun 2026Draft AI regulations for courts
The Supreme Court invited comments on the draft Regulations for Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Courts, 2026. They are a draft, not in force.
- 2 Jul 2026Zero tolerance for unverified AI precedents
In Pooja Ramesh Singh v. Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd. (2026 INSC 668) the Supreme Court set aside orders that relied on fake or misquoted judgments, said citing them without verification is misconduct by an advocate, and directed the BCI to frame guiding principles.
AI changes the drafting. Not who answers for it.
A neutral summary of the rules the course works within. It is not legal advice; the Advocates Act, the BCI Rules and your firm's policies take precedence. Checked October 2026.
- No privileged or client-identifiable material in public AI tools.Anonymise, or use a tool the firm has approved under contract.
- Read every case you cite.Check the judgment exists, says what is claimed and is still good law, in an official or authoritative source.
- AI output is a draft. The advocate edits, approves and signs, and is responsible for every word filed or sent.
- Map old sections to new.IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act references must be checked against BNS, BNSS and BSA where the new laws apply.
- Human-verify every translation.A regional-language document used in a matter is checked by a competent person, not trusted as machine output.
An advocate must not, directly or indirectly, breach the obligations of section 126 of the Evidence Act, the privilege now carried in section 132 of the BSA.
Section 132 covers professional communications, section 133 says privilege is not waived by volunteering evidence, and section 134 covers confidential communications with legal advisers.
Advocates may not solicit work or advertise, directly or indirectly. The course does not teach AI for client acquisition, and this page is a training offer, not an advocate's advertisement.
Zero tolerance for producing, citing or using AI-generated precedents without verification; the BCI was directed to set up a committee and prescribe disciplinary norms.
An electronic record offered in evidence is accompanied by a certificate in the Schedule form. Module 8 uses this as context for questions about AI-generated or AI-altered material.
Client files hold personal data. The Rules were notified in November 2025 with an 18-month phased timeline for notice, consent, safeguards and breach intimation.

Hours AI could draft, minus the review you keep.
Tasks × hours × staff × billing rate, with a review allowance taken off because every AI draft must be checked. Illustrative only.
saved = Σ(hours × AI share) × staff × (1 − review)
Illustrative, not a study result or a promise. AI shares per task are assumptions. Payback compares the value of hours saved with seats at ₹14,999* each, excl. GST. Time saved is not a reason to bill less carefully.
